Fill-In-the-Blank Friday

1. One song that always takes me back to my youth is "Strawberry Wine." Lame, I know. Not the song...I still love it...but just the way that I was obsessed with it was lame. When we were little Sarabeth & I thought it was the greatest song ever & on our long jaunts through the woods behind her house we would sing it at the top of our lungs. I was 9 when it came out...Had no idea what the song was about. We may have also made a music video to "Did I Shave My Legs for This?" We clearly needed to sit down & have a chat with Deana so she could explain that we were too young to be singing any of her songs.

2. My first concert ever was Avalon. That fact kind of makes me want to break out into "all the colors of the rainbow..."

3. If I could create my dream music festival I'd want these bands to be there: oh man...this is a hard one. But it'd be everyone from Passion, plus Dave Barnes, Andy Davis, Matt Wertz, Michael Buble, Francesca Battistelli, Travis Cottrell, Lady Antebellum, Taylor Swift, U2, the cast of Glee, Bethany Dillon, Brad Paisley, Phil Wickham, Sister Hazel, Kari Jobe...& probably some others that I've forgotten. I love that my music festival would unite many genres :)

4. The best make-out/"boot knocking" song ever is one that you should ask my husband...& tell me where he is when you meet him & maybe give him directions to me.

5. The best concert I've ever been to was Hillsong. Didn't even have to think about that question. We waited in line at Passion forEVER to get tickets to their Late Night. I mean, this line seriously wrapped around Georgia World Congress Center about a million & a half times. We got to the front of the line & they'd run out. And then we were really bummed out (I might have wanted to cry...) & were walking through the building & saw all of these people running. So, naturally, we started running, too. And it turns out, there was another ticket line that still had plenty. Best day of my life. Ok, maybe not...but it was great.

6. A memorable musical moment for me was...I have a lot of these. 1. Seeing Wicked. Finally. After wanting to for years. And I ended up going with my dad who was doing one of three things during the entire show: 1. sleeping, 2. sleeping AND snoring, or 3. texting my brother to find out scores of some less important football game. 2. Church in Lesotho. The members were singing a song in Sesotho & I didn't recognize it until an older woman on the trip with us started singing it in English. One of the coolest moments of my life. 3. This is a little embarrassing to admit, but when I was on the flagline in high school, we went to a lot of band competitions. And to DCI (Drum Corps International) in Orlando. And hearing some of those HUGE bands just gave me chills, particularly when the Cadets played "Amazing Grace." Ok, I used a hymn now...you can't laugh at "Amazing Grace." :)

7. The song on my iPod that's getting the most play these days is probably not just a song but a whole album. I still listen to the Passion Awakening album a lot. And Francesca Battistelli...such good fun, summer music.
