squirrels vs. diabetes

There's this little thing called Gold Rush that is a BIG thing in my heart...my favorite time of the year in Dahlonega. Every year since the beginning of time (as I know it), Alpha Gam has had a rock-a-thon to raise money for diabetes research (hence the title, "squirrels vs. diabetes"...the squirrel is our mascot. Don't laugh.). It's always so much fun to rock & sing with sisters...& enjoy all of the wonderful Gold Rush food (sweet potato biscuits, funnel cakes, things that should never be fried, & hot chocolate) & festivities ("buck" dancing, arm wrestling contests, a very nugget-y* parade, etc.).

*Nugget: someone born & raised in Dahlonega, Georgia. Usually easily spotted for their lack of teeth and massive amounts of facial hair. They are also heard from miles away...phrases such as "there's gold in them thar hills" (which I just learned was actually coined in Dahlonega. Coined being the key word since this occurred during the time of the Gold Rush & the start of the Dahlonega Mint).

Aside from the festivities on the Dahlonega Square, this was just an all-around good weekend. Great times with sisters & more laughter than I've experienced in a LONG time. Partly because of this. Also, if you watch that video & don't laugh, try to refrain from judgment. Then watch it with us & it will be funny. Promise.

This was our setup Saturday night: some of my favorite girls all crowded in my room (because the downstairs was a WRECK & was stressing me out). Many flavors of hot chocolate within reach. Phase 10 cards in hand.

[Please imagine Caitlin in this picture, too. She requested that I photoshop a creepy picture of her there but...I feel that your imagination will suffice.]

Kind of felt like Freshman year all over again.
