Kids Say the Darndest Things...

Annabelle Kate
November 10, 2009
5 lbs. 9 oz.
19 in.

After Annabelle was born, doctors found out that my aunt had some ulcers in her intestines, but it took them awhile to figure this out, so she was really sick & in the hospital for a week. My parents kept the big sisters and brother - Addi Kay (6), Ada Klair (3), & Abel (2) - while Adam & Alisha were at the hospital. Once I got home on Friday I got to have a turn, so I stayed with them Friday. They were SO much fun! These are my favorite parts of the weekend.

Addi Kay to my mom: "Lindsey & Ben are old, so you're REALLY old, so you'll die soon & go to Heaven...Can you say hello to Titan for me?" (Titan is a dog that died years ago.)

Abel fell, got a huge knot on his head, & now has a bruise that looks like Harry Potter's scar. Let it be said that this happened on my mom's watch - not mine. So, he's crying & kept trying to get something off his tongue. Ada, who is 15 months older & about the same size, came over to him & said "Here buddy, let me get it." So he willingly sticks his tongue out & lets her get it off. After several attempts, she says, "Got it. It was a hair...I think it was mine."

Addi Kay's prayers: AK prayed for people who are sad, lonely, happy, glad, mad, angry, embarrassed, sick, hurt...pretty much every emotion you can think of. Also for pets that Adam & Alisha had before she was even born.

Addi Kay: "When are you going to get a boyfriend?"
me: "Well...that's a very good question."

Addi Kay, on Cain & Abel: "Abel was the good brother. Cain gave God a sacrifice, but it wasn't the best he had, so God turned His back on him...but not all the way, just a smidgen bit."

My conversation with AK on the way home from school went something like this:
AK: Lindsey, you know what? Someone at school is in love with me.
me: Oh really? Who?
AK: Christopher.
me: How do you know he's in love with you?
AK: Because he always chases me at recess & is ALWAYS shooting grins at me.
me: Hm...well, what do you think about that?
AK: Well, I know I'm too young to have a boyfriend, but he IS in love with me.
me: So, tell me about Christopher...is he a nice boy?
AK: Well, he's brown-skinned. Not all the way...just a little brown-skinned.

Singing the blessing:
AK & Ada: God our Father, God our Father, we thank You...
Abel: ..................FA.......................FA.........................YOU...
