Temple Grandin

Ever since I watched the Emmys this year, I've wanted to see Temple Grandin.  I'd never heard of it until the awards show, but it had 15 nominations & won 5 Emmys (the most of any one movie/show): Outstanding Made for Television movie, Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie (Claire Danes), Supporting Actress (Julia Ormond), Supporting Actor (David Strathairn),
Best Director (Mick Jackson).

All I knew was that it won awards & was about an autistic woman.  The real-life Temple Grandin was at the Emmys (which were held on her birthday) & was so excited each time the movie was announced.  It was so precious.  After that...I just had to see the movie.

Temple was diagnosed at age 4 with autism.  Doctors told her mother that she needed to be institutionalized, but her mom refused.  She taught Temple, made her learn manners at home, insisted that she go to school, & eventually Temple went on to college, & later earned a master's & doctorate degree.  Such a great story.

Watch the trailer here & go rent it!
