What is it about music that speaks to our souls? I guess that may sound a bit dramatic, but it's really true, isn't it? You know how every time you hear a certain song you're reminded of a person, or a time in your life, or maybe a special event? It takes you back to what you felt, what you were experiencing at that moment.
I've often wondered why the way that God speaks to me so many times is through a song. Don't get me wrong; I'm not one of those people who calls the part in a church service where you sing "worship." Yes, it's that, but every aspect of life should be worship. But that's not my point. Why does God speak through music? When you think about why we "connect" with other songs, it's all about memory. We have this connection that takes us back. I think it's the same way with God. We hear a song & the words remind us that what we're singing is really true. It's not just words, & it's not just music that evokes an emotional response. It's memory. Not only are we reminded of all that God has done for us in the past, but we're reminded of His promise to give us a hope & a future. We are reminded just how great He really is.
So, yes...I believe in music.
