This past Sunday at church, the electricity went out about halfway through the service & stayed out the rest of the time. Since our church is fairly small, it wasn't a big deal...we could still hear & there are windows at the back, so we could see well enough. Before we closed, we sang "Sanctuary." No microphones, no instruments...just voices. There's something pure about that.
You could stand in the most beautiful cathedral in the world - you know the kind...stained glass windows that reach the sky, organ pipes lining the front of the room, pew after pew after pew... But if there is not worship in the hearts of the people, that places is no sanctuary. We so often consider a church a building rather than the people, & the same is with a sanctuary. It is not a building or a room...it is the heart where God dwells.
So beautiful and so true. Love this post! Happy Tuesday!
