buried my heart & called it home

So, last night after I wrote this post & commented about not being able to go to Gold Rush...I sort of lost it.  It wasn't just about this...just a culmination of things, but I texted Beth & told her I just needed to go with her.  She called, I cried, & made plans to be at her apartment the next morning.  :)

So this morning, I got ready, emptied out all my change from my change jar for Alpha Gam's rock-a-thon, & headed off to Gold Rush!

Every fall, Case & Beth have a caramel apple date on the square.  This time I got to partake...only I don't really like all the chocolate & nuts on their's, so I had a bite of just apple :)

I had other things I needed to do today...so glad I went to Dahlonega instead.  Good for the heart.  :)

30 Day Blog Challenge: day 6

day 6
a picture of something that makes you happy

This picture makes me happy...& sad.  Gold Rush is one of my all-time favorite times of the year in Dahlonega.  Sisters, rock-a-thon, sweet potato biscuits, cooler weather, pretty leaves, sweet potato biscuits, caramel apples, cute pictures, alum sisters, &...did I mention the sweet potato biscuits...oh, & you can't forget the buck dancing competitions (which I formerly thought was butt dancing)...not even going to try to explain those.

And...it's not looking like I'm going to make it this year.

Alpha Gam, miss you girls more than you can possibly know!  Love you & pray for you daily & the impact that you can make on that campus.

"Let your roots grow down into Him, & let your lives be built on Him.  Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught & you will overflow with thankfulness."

Dahlonega: post-grad

This weekend was my 1st post-grad visit to Dahlonega.  I like to call it that...it sounds official.

I wasn't sure how it was going to be going back, everyone else now being busy with school & Alpha Gam activities, someone else living in my room.  But...the apartment doesn't even look the same anymore.  All the furniture is different & "my" room, aka Meredith's is now pink, pink, pink, without a trace of zebra. ;)  It all looks great, but it's not really sad because it doesn't look like the place where I spent the last 2 years.

I took McKinlie up with me because she wanted to meet my "college friends."  We had a great time hanging out with Cait, Ashley, Alison, & Sara [missed you, Brandi!].

Saturday we walked around the square.

 finally real friends!

We went to see Ashley at work at The Embroidery Shop & I got this great lunchbox!  Can't wait to use it at work this week!

After that, we went back to the apartment & just hung out.

We had a little twitorial & got one (so far) to commit.

And...one of the most important parts of the weekend...we introduced McKinlie to the wonder that is lime chicken tacos & half-baked cookie brownies smothered in french vanilla ice cream.

There was only one downside of this weekend (well...besides leaving).  And this is what you need to know before I tell you what that was: Cait & I make great playlists.  The greatness is often determined by the name.  You know how a rose wouldn't smell as sweet with any other name?  Same with playlists.  So as a prize for this weekend, I made her a CD: {pray}list.  Lots of songs about healing & believing...if you read about what's going on in her life right now, it'll make sense.

Downside: "I broke the praylist, I broke the praylist, I broke the praylist!!!!!"
Good news: I made 2.

Miss these girls so much, but am thankful that I am happy where I am.  If not...going back would just be too much bear.
