One Fine Day

Pretty much everything about this Sunday was just great.  It all started with miraculously being early for church.  I'd spent the night at Sara's & somehow...we just ended up being not just on time, but early.  I just love that because Sunday mornings [especially with my family] can sometimes be stressful & it was not at all.
On the way home from church we decided to go on a little picnic since it was such a beautiful day [high of 61 & I felt like it was practically summer...even broke out the Chacos.].  So, we ran by my house, made some sandwiches, grabbed a blanket , cameras, & my guitar & headed to the park.  Little did we know, we would never actually get to the eating part of the picnic.
Instead, we made a new friend.  Sort of.  This man came up & started talking to us.  We seriously found out his entire life story.  Minus all the [sometimes awkward or creepy] details, he just started going back to church 2 weeks ago.  He grew up in church but I think he's just seen a lot of corruption within churches & with church officials & kind of turned away.  I don't know that he's ever understood the relational aspect of Christianity, but I think he's actually starting to now.  There have been a lot of ups & downs in his life & he clearly has a lot of things he still needs to figure out, but it was so cool that he just started telling us all of this.  I think he really just needed someone to talk to.  As much of a creeper as he seems to have been in previous years, I really think he's seeking God right now.  He may not always know what that means but...who does?  I loved being able to talk to this perfect stranger who is 30 years older than me & feel like I had some wisdom to impart.  For the first time in his life, he's beginning to feel a peace that doesn't come from financial stability, or a relationship, or job security...but God.
After that, I came back home & it was still just so pretty outside I decided to ignore the wreck of an apartment that I'd planned on cleaning that afternoon & sit outside & have a little date with my guitar.  My afternoon pretty much looked like this...
And then I got to enjoy a little of this...
[Pretty super-cool chick right there.]  Good conversation with one of my best friends is always so precious to me.

"Your love has given me much joy & comfort, my [sister], for your kindness has often refreshed the hearts of God's people." -Philemon 1:7
And then...a little this & that...a relaxed night with Cait, Sara, &
Brandi.  Just a lovely day. :)
